@adam:zoom right in and go as close to the subject as you can. Flash isn't recommended, let there be ambient light and the background that you are trying to create a bokeh out of must be as far from the subject as possible (and also illuminated). Lighting works best for bokeh during night times. Aperture must be wide open (I believe f-3.5 for your lens). Still I'd not expect a dramatic boken from this lens. Nevertheless, give it a try. Post here whatever result you get.

settings is on aperture mode..with a low iso around 200-400 as i am trying to avoid noise.
the flash i am using is the built in flash on a d90. i have just started photography for about a year..and im just not too sure if i can use a built in flash to achieve bokeh in a pitch black situation.please do help me through a proper technique to achieve bokeh during dark nights..and very less light to illuminate subject.

Hi!

You have provided a great tip on creating a bokeh.
I would like to know how to create a bokeh using Samsung EX1? I have read that this compact camera can do a bokeh effect but I just can't figure out how.

I hope you can help me with this. Thank you very much!
