i am an amateur but got advised to but a dslr Nikon D90
it is not what i expected, fantastic pictures but have found it hard to work out how to use it as there is so much to learn, an expensive camera, costing just under £800 but i know once i learn it, it will be an investment to the Family album pictures and events, would recommend it to anyone if they are willing to learn like myself!

Very interesting article. As just a hobbyist photographer, a lot of cameras look very similar to me (I can just distinguish cheap vs. expensive!) so this helps a lot. Thanks for the good read.

Im an amateur photog so this has been very informative. I just own a P&S by the way..so I really don’t know anything about SLR and DSLR. Reading this has made me gain interest in upgrading into more serious cameras.

Point and Shoot mean just that, point the camera at something and trip the shutter..
SLR and DSLR Single Lens Reflex and DSLR stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex and refers to how the light enters the camera.. :)
